Holten
As a cycling village, Holten has much to offer the recreational and sporting cyclist. They even have a real cycling mayor. Former professional cyclist and team leader Theo de Rooij. On his chain of office even hangs a golden bicycle bell. Holten is therefore a cycling area with a golden edge. So do go cycling and come to Fietsdorp Holten.

Bike up the mountain
Topper of Twente
With the most famous mountain in the eastern Netherlands, Holten is the topper of Twente. And even though the Holterberg is 'only' sixty meters high, that is high enough for many highlights during your (cycling) vacation in Twente. Or Salland. Because actually Holten is located in Salland and the Holterberg is part of National Park The Sallandse Heuvelrug. But who cares.
Uphill
Of course the Holterberg is not a mountain but a hill, well, a hump. But climb it. Then the sweat will be on your back. Especially if you take the Motieweg road to the Holterberg square by road bike. Fortunately, you can also get there on foot or by bike and sit down at one of the terraces. And while you're there, walk into the nature museum as well.
Downhill
The experience path connects Holterberg with the village of Holten. The path starts downstairs at the Kulturhus on the Smidsbelt. This square is the cozy heart of Holten and a favorite with Holtern residents. On a summer day the terraces here are full and children play between the jumping fountains. So it can't hurt to bring dry clothes.
