The charming village of Losser on the river Dinkel traditionally goes back in time for four days to the era of the master painter Pieter Brueghel the Elder (c. 1525–1569).
Experience Losser as it was 500 years ago during the Brueghelian Feast from 13 to 16 August. The town centre transforms into a medieval spectacle filled with traditional crafts, music, street theatre, fire breathers, delicacies and entertainment for children. Come and watch, taste and enjoy this unique celebration for young and old alike!
Over the years, this large-scale festival – attracting around 100,000 visitors – has grown into one of the biggest and best-known events in the region and far beyond.
Who doesn’t know the remarkable scenes painted by the master Pieter Brueghel the Elder, in which grotesque and whimsical spectacles often take centre stage? Eating, drinking and celebrating like a true “Brueghelian” among beggars, lepers and brawlers is a truly unique experience. Of course, peddlers and troubadours will not be missing from the atmospheric setting that Losser offers during these days.
The programme will be published here in due course.
New: The Brueghel Beer Garden Enjoy the lively atmosphere in the beer garden every day, with a view of the stage, a drink in your hand and food trucks all around you.
Take a look at the Brueghelian Feast website to view the full programme.
At the same time as the Brueghelian Feast, the Onder de Oale Toarn Festival will also take place.
